Ready to participate in FIRST®? Here is what you need to know to get started!

Teams based in Texas must complete two separate registrations:

  1. FIRST Headquarters (FIRST HQ)
  2. FIRST in Texas (Coach Portal)

These registrations serve different purposes, but both are required for your team to participate in local events.

Step 1: Register with FIRST HQ

FIRST is the global nonprofit that designs the games and program. You’ll need to complete your global team registration through FIRST HQ to receive your official team number, which is required to activate the Coach Portal. If you haven’t registered with FIRST HQ yet, click here:

Step 2: Register with FIRST in Texas

FIRST in Texas organizes local events and manages the program in the state. This registration covers your participation for the local events.

Registration will be two steps:

  1. Creating your user account in the Coach Portal
  2. Paying the season fee

Both steps must be completed to compete.

To activate your Coach Portal:

  1. Lead Coach #1 should enter the email address and a team number associated with your FIRST HQ registration.
  2. You’ll then be prompted to verify your account.
